Histoplasmosis is a disease caused by the fungus Histoplasma capsulatum. It is often found in deep guano piles. So, when guano accumulates in an attic or a crawl space from a bat infestation, it poses a serious problem.

What is Histoplasmosis?

Symptoms of the disease are respiratory problems, chest pains, persistent cough, fever, etc.

Wind is the most common way that the fungus is spread. Unfortunately, it can survive for a long time and be transmitted from one location to another on the feet of birds and bats.

If it is a mild case, it can go away without treatment. In severe cases, the lung damage can be so extreme that the lung has to be completely removed. In the U.S. 4,000 hospitalizations and 100 deaths occur annually.

If you have guano buildup in your home, you are potentially being exposed to histoplasmosis. We can disinfect the area for you so that you and your family members will be safe from this potentially life-threatening disease!
