Position: GBO technician
How long have you been working for Get Bats Out?
I believe it has been since the summer of 2006, although it may be 2007… My time here has been so enjoyable I can’t quite remember!
Where are you based and what areas do you serve?
Northeast Philadelphia. I serve central/southern NJ as well as eastern Pennsylvania and Northern Delaware.
Tell us your favorite on-the-job bat removal story.
I was on a ladder servicing a fascia board that had bats living behind it. Suddenly a bat decided to vacate his home behind the fascia and grabbed on to my shirt. I quickly brushed him off causing him to fall to the ground. When I found him he was crawling on the ground looking for something to climb. I gave him a boost by projecting him into the air. He took off in pursuit of a new home.
What are your favorite things to do where you live?
Going to the beach, or anything nature related – especially hiking. I also love sports like basketball and soccer games.
What is your favorite thing about your job?
The problem solving aspect. It is amazing at some of the spots a bat will find to live. No two jobs are the same and sometimes you have to come up with creative solutions.
Before working for Get Bats Out, what is the most unusual job you’ve ever had?
I did quality control at a milk dairy. When the milk came in from the farm, I would have to climb up the tanker to grab a sample and run various tests on the milk before the dairy would buy it. I also had to regularly taste and test the milk that came off the line. Thankfully, I really enjoy a nice glass of cold milk!
Where would you go on a dream vacation?
I have always wanted to drive to the bottom of South America taking my time along the way to visit old friends and make new ones – and of course, to see the sights along the way!
You’re hosting a dinner party – what are you making for dinner?
Octopus salad and ceviche. I may also do some grilling…
When you were 6 years old, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A Jedi Knight, Superman, or a firefighter. Can’t remember which. — Chris, you’re our new hero!
We’re thrilled to have Chris here with us at Get Bats Out. Keep up the good work!
